When & How It All Started

Banipur Lok Utsav

Way back in 1955, a few passionate villagers in Banipur (Habra, North 24 Parganas) decided to save dying folk arts. They started a small fair to give Baul singers, Chhau dancers, and rural craftsmen a stage. Today, after 70 glorious years, Banipur Mela 2025 is proudly the second-largest mela in West Bengal after Ganga Sagar!
